Winterreise – 12 Perspectives on a Winter Journey
Franz Schubert’s Winterreise is a journey through a winter landscape where loneliness, longing, memories and hope exist side by side. This 45-minute performance features twelve selected songs from Schubert’s Winterreise, bringing together voice, piano and dance in a new perspective on this classic work.
The performance grew out of a shared desire between a grandfather and his grandchild to create art together. Professional dancer and dance educator Hanna Välimäki and amateur singer Timo Savunen found a common starting point in Schubert’s Winterreise. Pianist Pasi Helin was invited to join the project, bringing the dialogue between dance and voice to life through his playing.
Winterreise – 12 Perspectives on a Winter Journey invites the audience to experience Schubert’s music through song, piano and movement.
